Christmas Eve Fire Damages Man's Home
A Christmas Eve blaze caused by an overheated furnace damaged a five room frame dwelling on Coventry road near Cedarville. Fourteen firefighters from the Philadelphia Steam Fire Engine Company and Good Will fire company fought the fire for over a half hour before bringing it under control. Owner James Swoyer, 71, was away when neighbor Kenneth S. Marquette detected smoke at about 9 45 p m. Marquette reported smelling smoke while letting his dog out and later saw heavy smoke and a glow from Sweyer’s house.
