A 1952 hardtop convertible crashed into the glass front of Paul L. Mowrey’s Route 83 and Park Road appliance shop in Spring City at 11 30 last night. Four Phoenixville men in the car were injured as the showroom window shattered and debris spread through the doorway. Mowrey, owner of the 3 month old store, faced Christmas with cleanup duties and a hard day ahead.

Bauman dies in hospital after illness
Charles W. Bauman 61 of 1085 South Street died yesterday morning at Memorial Hospital after an illness beginning December 11. Bauman organized the Spring City American Legion post, served in World War I, and ran as a Democratic council candidate in 1939. Survived by wife Rebecca Gray Bauman he came to Pottstown 27 years ago, worked as Spicer Manufacturing inspector, as a US Government inspector in World War III, and most recently as steward of the Pottstown American Legion home. He was post’s first commander.
