Autoist Hits Pole Locks Cop Three Charges Filed
A. young North Keim street driver George S. Donofrio, 21, of Pottstown RD 4, was charged with drunken driving assault and battery and drunk and disorderly conduct after his car struck an electric light pole on Beech street south of Cedar street at 4 15 yesterday afternoon. Officer Thomas A. Lawler said Donofrio refused to give information and then ducked behind a patrol car where a scuffle occurred and the officer was struck. Forty one Green Acres residents in Lower Pottsgrove Township win a proper road via an agreement between their representative attorney C Edmund Wells and the three member township board after an informal conference in Saratoga fireball Wednesday night. The road through the new development lacks foundation and surface and is not township owned, requiring Montgomery County court action to become a public thoroughfare. Commissioners said they do not know how long that will take or what the final road will be. Residents had called the present path deplorable for lacking drainage and proper access to homes, which are bungalow type houses built this year by Stanley Swinehart. Soldier Richard A Wilson Dies After Long Service
Richard A Wilson aged about 75 a veteran of the Royal Canadian Highlanders and the American Army died last night at Portstown Hospital after a pneumonia infection worsened his chronic heart condition. A longtime Pottstown Legion member he refused to surrender his disability from World War I. He learned his son Herbert had sailed for France in his battalion. He served briefly in 1918 before injuries ended active duty and attended a WWII veteran’s funeral two weeks earlier, prompting a fatal pneumonia complication.
