Fire destroys one room shack in Mt. Pleasant
A 65 year old man, Harry Knauer of Spring City RD1, lost all possessions when a coal oil stove exploded inside his small one room shack near Mt. Pleasant school. Neighbors helped but the 10 foot structure was a fire ruin. Firefighters, led by assistant chief Charles Rohrbach, doused the blaze in minutes and secured the scene within a half hour. Knauer, now homeless, planned to sleep at the firehouse per offers from neighbors. Estimated loss between 500 and 600 dollars. only a few clothes and personal items survived. The fire was first spotted by Mr. and Mrs. David Merroth of Linfield as they drove past. The incident continued on page thirteen.

Burglar Pleads Guilty Sentenced for Multiple Break-Ins
A 33 year old man admitted to 22 safe crackings in Montgomery County and pleaded guilty to open safe charges at Pennsburg and East Greenville High Schools and a Palm manufacturing office theft. He received 7 to 15 years with overlapping sentences awaiting further trials in nine other counties. Police arrested him after the Palm office theft. Detainers loom as cases continue.

Area's Eighth Polio Victim Is Stowe Girl
Pauline Miklusak of 643 Lemon Street Stowe becomes the eighth polio victim in the Potts town area. She was admitted to Montgomery Hospital after being taken from her home to Potts town hospital yesterday afternoon. Dr George M Longaker Sr said she is seriously ill with bulbar poli and struggling to swallow. She had fever in early days but her temperature has been normal recently. A Montgomery hospital spokesman said she is resting comfortably and respirator services are not yet needed. Her sister Mary Rudy of 314 Linden Street Stowe may visit after she returns.

Home Seems Good After Trip Abroad
Mrs M Louise Walch of 350 Walnut street returns from a 10 week trip to her birthplace in the Alps near Frankfurt Germany. She says Germany is beautiful in the alps and along the Rhine but she is glad to be back home in the United States after 25 years since coming at age 41.
