Pottstown playground season closes with new records in registration and attendance. Directors credit staff leadership and Mercury publicity for boosted interest. Franklin playground added this season, boosting participation. attendance exceeds 38,500, registration 1711, far above prior years.
Approximately 3500 in coins and small bills were taken from an unlocked safe in a Swartz market storage room at 112 North Main Street Spring City between 1 30 and 4 yesterday afternoon while employees served customers. Police Chief John Hanebury and Paoli State Police substation officer Joseph Rensch plus borough patrolman Arthur Penrose pursue leads after questioning the owner and nine employees. the money was to be used for change.
A 58-pound black Angus hei fer that bolted from a pasture near Ziezlerville July 7 was captured yesterday morning. Robert T. Wickersham of Spring Mount said two visitors herded it into his pasture where ten Angus heifers and five cows grazed. The heifer had escaped while being delivered to Howard Lacke Jr. by quarryville cattle dealer George T. Caldwell.
A woodchuck wandered near Vauban Road and poked its head into an empty baked bean can, frightening three children Blane 3, Fannette 5, and Byron 7 Sweetland, who fled to their home. The mother, Mrs. Philip Sweetland, responded to the screams as the animal died.

Bartholomew Falls town plant manager for Doehler Jarvis was reported in good condition by Temple University Hospital Philadelphia late yesterday after an abdominal operation at 9 20 o clock He resides at Radland avenue and Savior court and entered the hospital last Monday He is vice president of Doehler Jarvis in addition to plant manager of the Fottstown plant.
