Initial Esch and Hatten coalition faltered as Stephenson gained votes, then McGregor Nelson and Morris swung to Stephenson, giving him 55 votes and the nomination amid cheers. Hatten immediately announced his candidacy for the primary for the full term.

Martin Angwick, a noted attorney and politician in Chippewa Falls, Wis, was found hanging on a hospital picket fence yesterday morning. Doctors attributed the death to heart enlargement after he apparently fell ill while walking. Nurses heard him call for help at about 11 o clock but mistook him for intoxicated. He earlier worked in the state treasury department from 1894 to 1896.
