Chapels of the Tongues planned for St John the Divine
The Cathedral of St John the Divine on Morningside Heights plans seven chapels of the tongues to serve foreign born worshippers in their vernacular. Belmont and King families fund two chapels named for St Columba and St Ambrose, with other chapels to honor Swedish, Dutch, British, Italian, Spanish rites. The chapels will be separate gifts, not general funds, and entrances connect to the choir ambulatory.
