Dog alert saves couple as Sagamore Road home burns
Neighbors say German shepherd Joey barked to wake Kenneth Staten and his wife and smoke detectors activated as a two alarm fire engulfed their Sagamore Road house at 189. Firefighters rescued no one injured though the home was a total loss shortly after 1 a.m. The Statens had planned to sell the residence with a sale sign in the yard.

Guard trains for survival at Water Country event
