Widow seeks compensation after rescue at sea

Portmouth report says rescuers from The Amy Philbrick discuss "some sort of compensation" for saving 20-year-old Asher Woods after his father fell overboard. The Niobe sailboat was turned over to The Amy Philbrick and is docked at Shaftmaster Fishing Co. in Newington while negotiations continue.

On Oct 15 Stephen Woods aged 55 and his son Asher 20 sailed from Rockland Maine aboard the Niobe with plans to reach Rye Harbor. Stephen Woods fell overboard per Asher. On Oct 17 Deborah Woods reports the Niobe missing.

Cost Overrun Stalls Hampton Tolls Project Eighteen Months In

The Hampton tolls project remains unfinished and over budget after a $6.1 million construction plan. The governor cites fuel costs while the DOT cites unforeseen bridge deterioration. Candia based Severino Construction, the lowest bidder, had bids about $1 million over state estimates. Former Gov. Benson and the Executive Council approved the deal, with Severino suing Benson for unpaid work at his Golf Club of New England. Portsmouth councilor Ruth Griffin also endorsed the contract.

Portsmouth Library Delayed Beyond Summer 2006

The new 38,000 square foot Portsmouth library project will not open on time. Director Mary Ann List said steel work delays will hold the project for about a month, likely delaying public opening beyond summer 2006 and possibly into winter 2006.
