Maplecourt Seamen Rescued From Stranded Vessel
Twenty three seamen and officers of the stranded steamer Maplecourt of the Cand Steamsiip line were rescued by a Coast Guard cutter this morning from Magnetic Reef Cockburn Island after the ship ran aground on Sunday and was hard hit by waves. The crew reached Detour and said the vessel was wedged on a rock and badly damaged. Captain Melcher M Staulkes and crew suffered no loss of life during ten months at sea. The crew planned to take a bus to Sault Ste Marie.
