Edward A Perkins led New Hampshire lodge as noble grand with Leon Drew and Leigh Runnell among officers. The event featured many speeches and the audience expressed appreciation for the ceremony.
York October 18 Guy Welch aged 54 remained in critical condition at York hospital after severe beating with 14 axe handles by unknown assailants last week. High sheriff continues search as officials say the elderly man was attacked in York County.
Two thousand eight hundred sixty four registrants at Portsmouth Navy Yard will have draft cards routed through a staged distribution system. Cards from Kittery go to Local Board No. 2 in Kennebunk, then to Augusta for statewide sorting before final nationwide distribution. Of 2654 registrants at the yard, 343 were from Bittery, 347 from other parts of Local Board No. 2, and 2,154 from areas outside the No. 2 precinct covering 14 towns in York County.
Lionel Perron and Lilian Butnam, Ports mouth residents, are held in Canada by U S immigration authorities. The case was sent to a Washington appeal board with a decision expected today or tomorrow. They are staying with an aunt in Quebec while awaiting status. Last Sunday they were detained at Beecher Falls VI border. Their mother Mrs Oliville Jutras and friend Edward Shaw were allowed to cross back into the United States.
Funeral services for Stanley H. Kupp of Stowe Pennsylvania, a seatenant at the Naval Prison, were held at Walter L. Griffin Funeral Home on State Street Thursday afternoon after his death in an auto accident near Break fast Hill early Wednesday morning.

Portsmouth firemen faced heavy smoke at Mrs. Annie Withneck’s home on 74 Jefferson St. after a kitchen blaze caused 400 in damage. A dog hidden in clothing survived the ordeal, found whimpering by firefighters who extinguished the fire. Cause undetermined. damage included house furniture and clothing. Mrs. Withneck is a cleaner. her husband died previously.
Manchester oct 18 AP Atty Ashton Thorp noted historian of Manchester died in his sleep at home. He was 63 years old.

Mrs Sarah Margaret McDonald of 575 State Street Portsmouth died at Corey Hill Hospital Boston after illness. Born in Portsmouth she was daughter of Mell K McInnis and Mary McDonald. She was educated at St Patrick parochial and Portsmouth High class of 1911. She worked 17 years as a book keeper at Portsmouth Navy Yard power plant office. She belonged to Church of the Immaculate Conception and its Altar Society, Constitution Circle, Companions of the Forest of America, and American Legion Auxiliary. Survived by husband, daughter Therese K McDonald, mother Mary McInnis, three brothers Kenneth F McInnis New York, Daniel M McInnis Dover, Christopher N McInnis Seabrook, and several nieces and nephews.

Rinaldo Blaisdell farmer and storekeeper of Beech Ridge York Missouri died at his home yesterday morning. Born November 21 1864 he was one of eight children of John and Mercy Blaisdell. He lived most of his life at Beech Ridge except for a few years with the railroad in Waltham Massachusetts. He married Alice E B Carlton of Melrose Massachusetts on June 17 1903. Survived by widow four children Albert Blaisdell Mrs Martha Gifford Mrs Emma Tuttle and Kenneth Blaisdell brother Joseph and eight grandchildren.
