Oct 17 Newport R I torpedo boats Dahlgren and Craven collided off Castle Hill. Dahlgren, only lightly damaged, later grounded on a mud flat after a collision near the bell buoy. Craven sustained more damage but reached the slips. one crewman fell overboard and was rescued. A board of inquiry to be convened. Lieuts Miller and Brown commanded the vessels.

Russian forces repulse Chinese at Sehacho near Mukden

Reports from Manchuria relay details of the Mukden engagement where thirty Chinese battalions with twenty guns held the railway embankments.
