Wind outages hit Seacoast as high winds pass
Public Service of New Hampshire reported outages in Newmarket and Dover areas with most Seacoast towns spared. Hampton police investigated a possible transformer fire on Exeter Road but found no fire. CMP logged about 1000 York County outages with trees on lines. no outages in Kittery or nearby towns. The National Weather Service issued an urgent wind warning as a strong system from New Brunswick pushed 25 to 30 mph winds across western and southern Maine and much of New Hampshire.

This year 1690 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 170 are expected to die from the disease. It is the second leading cause of cancer death among women after lung cancer. Seventy seven percent of cases are in women aged 50 or older. Early detection saves lives with a five year survival rate of 98 percent when cancer has not spread beyond the breast.

KITTERY Maine Local firefighters who recently returned from the Gulf region say there is still much work to be done six weeks after Katrina.
