Prensa reports eighty peasants were killed when a church in San Carlos Tabasco state caught fire set by religious figures amid an escape attempt. Victims burned or shot as they fled. La Prensa accuses Tabasco authorities of complicity after campaigning against officials.
Chicago on October 10, Judge John H. Lyle rejected a ten thousand dollar bond for Ralph Capone. Capone was placed in a cell to await police interrogation after bond bills were deemed invalid. The judge called the bond procedure improper and said Capone would be held as any common criminal while officers pursued location of rival leader Gearface Al Capone.

Gloucester Mass. schooner Bluenose loses to Gertrude in opening of Lipton series off the port. The Gertrude leads the challenge as captain Ben Pine drives the crew to victory in rough harbor conditions. Bluenose, with a faulty mainsail and oversized topmast, trails by a wide margin but remains optimistic for the next race with captain Angus Walters.
Boston reports four deaths linked to liquor with many temporary blindings and paralysis cases. Medical Examiner Macprath cites alcohol as the cause in the deaths of Charles Henry, 48, and Mildred Henry, 45, found dead at 87 Lynde Street in the West End.
Miss Virginia Abner announces the opening of her dancing school during the week of Oct 12 at 171 Middle Street. Classes include ballet Greek Russian Spanish Oriental toe work and tap dancing. Telephone connection provided.
London October 10 mourners moved slowly through Westminster Hall past long lines of coffins bearing bodies of 48 disaster victims. The hall opened at nine, bodies lie in state on a purple dais with Union Jacks and flowers, to be buried tomorrow at Tottington, the last resting place of the dirigible crew.
The 10,000-ton French cruiser Dupleix was launched at Brest yesterday in the presence of President Gaston Doumergue. The ship represents the latest system of French naval design and engineering.
