Nath an Rosen of Atlantic Heights and William Coburn of the Naval dispensary were held for the October grand jury on larceny of an automobile from Granville Burns. Mob Lynches Three In Aiken Jail Break
A mob stormed the Aiken jail early today, seized three black inmates including a woman, and shot them to death in a pine thicket outside the city. The victims were Clarence and Dermon Loman and Dermon’s sister Bertha Loman. The men were on trial for murder. a prior verdict had been set aside and a new trial granted. The jailer was overpowered and the three were taken in an automobile. their bodies were found hours later several miles from town. Both men had previously received life sentences at their first trial.

Customs Officers Shot by Rum Runners in Vermont
Burlington, Oct. 8 Associated Press reports Customs officers B. Webb and Murray Tucker of St Albans were shot by rum runners in Sunderland Hollow just north of Burlington early this morning. Both are in Mary Fletcher Hospital in critical condition. Webb has a severe abdominal wound. Tucker a badly wounded hand. They underwent emergency operations overnight. Little hope is held for Webb. Tucker’s fate is uncertain due to infection risks.

Baptists to Meet Here Next Year Following State Convention
Dr and Mrs B M Lake Mel and Mrs Lewis Staples have returned from the state Baptist convention held in London this week. The three day session was among the best attended in years with Staples presenting his 26th annual treasurer report and being re elected for the coming year. An invitation from the Middle at Baptist church to host next year’s gathering was accepted. The usual prayer meeting tonight will be enlarged to include reports from the convention.
