Ex-senator Burt Cohen is convicted of resisting arrest disobeying a police officer and running a stop sign. He receives fines totaling 1700 with 500 suspended plus a 30 day jail sentence and a 30 day license suspension. Officer Nicole Mercer described his aggression and threat while asserting identity.

In 1903 Portsmouth started half day kindergarten after a city vote. Now the City Council approved a School Department budget of more than 34 million for fiscal year 2008 and voted to make kindergarten full day. School Board Chairman Kent LaPage calls Monday night vote historic as the largest.
