New Baggage Check System by Boston and Maine
A new baggage check method used by the Boston and Maine railroad allows passengers to leave on an earlier train. The trackman delivers a duplicate check in an envelope attached to the trunk. The baggage master retrieves the check and envelope to release the trunk to the owner, avoiding mail transit and misplacement. A similar Canadian Pacific system uses a signed receipt to release responsibility.
