Tornado Ravages Goliad Texas Town. Hundreds Feared Dead

Reports via telegraph indicate Goliad North West swept by tornado with fifty to one hundred killed. Eight blocks of business houses blown down. many injured. Deerville also hit by high winds. telgraph lines down. Additional storms damage in Austin area. unroofed houses and damage to state school for the blind. Baseball scores noted from National and American leagues with late results.

Kearsarge Alabama and Olympia Sail to Meet French Cruiser

The battle ships Kearsarge and Alabama and the cruiser Olympia of the North Atlantic squadron passed Cape Henry this afternoon to meet the French cruiser Gaulois, expected off the cape Monday or Tuesday with the Rochambeau commission aboard. Admiral Bradford and the German and Russia vice consuls from New York arrived from Washington. Lebanon man Frederick G. Carter, captain of Company G, NH National Guard, died after a week's illness aged 36. A widow survives him.

Anarchists Plot to Paris Against King Alfonso

Madrid reports a plotted attack on King Alfonso with six arrests including an insurance company employee Lopez. Dynamite cartridges found on the employee’s premises and tied to a plan to strike a rental carriage. Further reports confirm nine cartridges seized and murder arrests among nine students with authorities analyzing the cartridges.

Insane Man Detained in York Custody

Samuel Blaisdell a 65 year old York man is detained at the police station after being brought from Augusta where he was an inmate of the insane asylum for some time. Pronounced incurable his relative removed him to Kittery Junction where he became unmanageable and had to be taken into custody.

Hundreds Visit White Mountain Vapor Site at Freeman’s Point

The White Mountain Vapor plant grounds at Freeman’s Point welcomed hundreds of visitors led by General Manager J.C. Morgan. Managers had earlier struggled with self-appointed grounds enforcers, now to be curbed by a local special officer. Morgan praised all visitors for courteous conduct.
