Col Joutph Ta Koga, director of the State Police, calls for applications for trooper trainers. Exams June 17. Applicants must weigh at least 150 pounds and have 28 20 vision uncorrected, a high school education or equivalent, residency in New Hampshire, and knowledge of the state. Trainees earn $2,829 the first year. salary range for troopers up to $5,558.
The governor and Executive Council scheduled a pardon hearing for Charles H. Barnard, former state Senate president, on May K at 1 pm. Barnard, 56, is serving 15 years for embezzling from the estate of Frank E., Hearst of Manchester. The prison board notes his meritorious confinement and favorable prognosis, while Barnard appeals as a pauper dependent on his wife and son and burdened by debt.
The Second Christian Congregational Church's Sunday services will feature Rev. John H W Miller delivering a youth sermon titled He Muffed It. A Gideons Inter national Bible Society representative will discuss Bible placements in schools and inns. The choir, led by Mildred Gerry, will perform. a nursery will operate for the period. Junior and Intermediate Pilgrim Fellowship meet at 3730 Pike with Mrs. Jobe U W Miller and Mrs. Willard Marshall as advisors. The United Christian Youth Movement holds its season's fast meet at York Harbor beach at 4 30. UCYM officers will be elected, and Miss Dianse Starkey will lead the business session. A Kilffery and Eliot ministers meeting is planned in the Second Christian Church parlor Monday at 10 am. The Ladies Social Circle will meet Thursday with a luncheon and business session led by Mrs. Jennie Graut. Seventy people attended the church's monthly family night supper Tuesday. Congregational Christian Conference delegates from local churches attended in Powlland's Woodford's Church, with a Frisbee School program and speakers. William Hurley led the Children’s Day program. June 9 is the closing date for church school sessions, announced W. Stanley Cole.
The Reserve Officers Association New Hampshire department holds its annual convention at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard with registration at 2 p.m. a briefing by Cmdr Lauda W Zech of USS John Adams, shipboard inspection, and dinner at 7 p.m. in the commissioned officers mess. CARD OF THANKS Otwellstead family acknowledges sympathy extended during sorrow from Mr and Mrs Robert Olmstead.
In Seoul, North Korea claimed the downing of a U S Army helicopter on Friday, with Maj Gen Chang Chung hwan insisting the craft was part of U S imperialist activity. U N Command later said the pilots Capt Ben Stutts and Capt Charleton Yall were on a routine mission and the chopper went down about 17 miles northwest of Sokpo and just north of the DMZ.
Mrs. Cyan Samderson, campaign chair for the royal Cancer fund drive, will be honored at an appreciation time next Wednesday at the Ile Tockingham Hotel. The wind-up dinner for the campaign will follow, with reservations through Mrs. Richard PL McDonagh of New Castle.
South Church Captain Halon Baber and Joel Schechter will lead the pulpit at 10 30 a m tomorrow for Laymen Sunday. Church school starts at 10 30 a m. Flowers honor Mrs Arthur Moulton and Mrs Mariun Knowles, given by Mr and Mrs Brandon Knowles. Mrs Ezra Pinkham chairs the annual Mother Daughter banquet to be held by the Women's League at 6 30 p m Tuesday. Mrs Telen Stetson leads the program. Monthly board meeting set for Tuesday at 8 p m. Miss Faustina Wade and Mrs Norman Whippen are delegates to the General Assembly in Chicago this week.
