Theyies carried out a bay attack before dawn near the front, as American forces faced heavy artillery and gas shell bombardment. The night battle produced extensive shelling and gas exposure, with defenses resisting despite intense artillery fire and gas effects.
A report from Kittery and York details visitors including Miss Gertrude Ivermore and several local households. The Eastern board met after the quager gathering at the Methodist church, stressing important business and parish plans.
