Tlavana March 21 The trial before the Andentia court here of the cases growing out of the embezzlement of Cuban postal funds has resulted in sentences for Neely and Reeves and Rathbone. Neely ten years imprisonment and a fine of 56781 Reeves ten years and a fine of 35518 Rathbone ten years and a fine of 50321.
In Youneston Ohio on March 21 a head on crash between the Pittsburg Youngstown and Ashtabula division freight trains killed firemen Neroiun Graham and James Graham and brakeman Charles Blackburn. Injured were Carl Bishop Weather and Frank Brown. One target tender from the Erie road was visible in wreckage as both engines wrecked and traffic halted for hours. Engineers say they had orders to proceed.
The Navy Department faces a jurisdiction question in the Yung Wah case, a Chinese enlisted man arrested for desertion at Washington yard. Officials say he cannot be tried under U.S. law, but a naval court can try foreigners who enlist on a naval vessel.

Shamokin Pennsylvania March 24. The civic federation faces a possible repeat of the 1900 coal strike turmoil with miners in the anthracite region. About 140000 workers were out then and may strike again if efforts fail.
Chicago March 24 Kid Carter of Brooklyn knocks out Joe Choynski of Chicago in the first round. Both fighters were nearly finished as the bout ended.
Washington March 24 Rear Admiral Endicott chief of the bureau of yards and docks will ask Congress for a million dollar appropriation for a new dry dock in the Philippines.
In Kittery on Monday the annual town meeting drew 688 votes the highest since incorporation. Rival Republican factions led by Calvin L Hayes and Horace Mitchell contested the moderator election with Mitchell 340 Hayes 338 and Democrat A A Stimson nine. A judge ruled that a majority was needed, not a mere plurality, prompting a postponement to review the result next Monday.
