City Council re elected City Solicitor Peter Emery and Chief Engineer John D Randall as well as Superintendent John W Shan non and Inspector Ernest Bogart. E B Prime wins the seventh ballot for City Treasurer after hours of voting amid a crowded chamber.
Ald Garrett's motion set off ballots for city farm superintendent with Shannon elected after three ballots for plumbing inspector. City solicitor Parker and Bogart for inspector elected on third ballot. Rapid minor officer wins followed, then joint session elected city messenger Herrick, chief engineer Randall, assistant engineers, clerk of the fire department, keeper of the public bath house Hartnett, keeper of gates at the South Will Bridge, and consideration of two hired assistant tax collectors. A unanimous resolution proposed forming committees with the mayor and ward aldermen plus named gentlemen.
A cablegram to C. Peter Clark reports the death of his father Charles P. Clark, former president of the New York New Haven and Hartford railroad and Boston Terminal Company, at Nice France. Pneumonia was the cause and he had been abroad for health reasons.
Sheriff Johnson said A. O. Henderson confessed tonight to participating in the Ondaby boy kidnapping. The voluntary admission, made alongside County Attorney Somers, claims Henderson spent most of his ransom money fleeing Omaha before an arrest in February for suspected complicity.

Lys. Maso March 21 General Chester Carlton Frye president of the board of aldermen and a prominent Mason died here this evening of pneumonia aged fifty eight.

Jacob Dearborn Marr a farmer near Cumrox killed his three children Alice thirteen Elwyn nine and Helen seven with an ax after rising from dinner. He claimed I dont know and was later arrested in Waterville. Lizzie Naramore in Couptroux Mass killed her six children age ten to ten months with an ax and attempted suicide. She is hospitalized in critical condition after slitting her throat.
The union squadron flagship Kearsarge and battleships Alabama and Massachusetts left the navy yard this morning. The Kearsarge and Alabama cleared the bar and went to sea, while Massachusetts ran aground on a sand spit east of Caucus channel. Tugs labored all afternoon but she remained stuck though uninjured and not in danger. officials expect possible afloat at flood tide.
In Antwerp on March 21 a circulating rumor said the Boers captured and freed General French before executing him for breaking a promise not to fight again. London sources on March 22 discredit the Antwerp rumor as false.
