After the strike is formally declared off, most Boston laborers at freight houses and docks are returning to their posts. About 300 to 400 of the 20,000 strikers remain out, with expectations they will soon secure positions.
Fire swept the Phoenix line pier in Hoboken burning the Brit Queen in full and several lighters. Flames threatened Campbell stores and the Maasdam of the Holland American line was towed clear. No lives were reported lost, though the chief engineer of the British Queen was unaccounted for.
In a Sunday night riot at Fort Morgan Mobile, Michael Kuby a discharged soldier was killed and about fifteen others wounded. Forty or fifty soldiers were drinking in a saloon when an altercation led to the clash. Stewart was arrested and a bloody knife found near the scene. Prompt officers restrained further trouble.
In Cuxhaven on March 18 the Mam burg American Line steamship Deutschland arrived from Cherbourg with Admiral Prince Henry of Prussia and his suite. The Kaiser Wilhelm II iced the ship in the roadstead as Emperor William greeted Prince Henry. The prince then boarded the battleship for departure.
London March 18 King Hidward notified metropolis mayors that £30,000 is set aside to feed half a million of London’s poor during coronation week. The king invites arrangements to entertain the very poor at a grand dinner to mark his coronation.
Littleton, March 18. Senator Daniel Remich announced Carnegie will give Littleton 10,000 dollars for a new public library building. Conditions require a suitable site and 10 percent interest annually on the donation.
JT drove a clash with Dutchy Givens in a recent bath house debate and the town’s social scene surged with Tuesday events. A banquet at Masonic hall a Knights of Malta racket and several church affairs crowded in before Easter week as city government prepares to meet next Thursday.

The fishing schooner Charles W. Parker was examined at Kittery Pot. The runder poast and about fifteen feet of keel were torn away and the butt damaged. It is estimated that $400 will restore the schooner to its former condition after she sank, with repairs to be done at Kittery Point.
General Orders No 7 from Department Commander Haines details the thirty-fifth encampment to be held in Concord on April 24 and 25 with officers reports, credentials, and assignments. It notes hotel and rail rates, posts supplying escorts, and a guard of honor for Commodore Perkins monument dedication. National encampment scheduled for Washington during the week of Oct 6 1902.
