Republicans of Portsmouth are called to caucus Saturday afternoon from four to eight at the old court house on Court street to choose a mayoral candidate for the upcoming municipal election. Ward One Republicans meet Friday March 2 at eight o'clock in Maplewood avenue ward room to nominate candidates for the polls. Ward Two Republicans meet Friday March 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the ward room to select candidates for the municipal election.

Murphy assigned to Pensacola yard. F. W. Olcott goes from Detroit recruiting rendezvous to home and wait orders. Captain H. C. Taylor moves from the War College to command the Vermont on March 17. Captain M. Miller relieves on the Vermont and goes to home and wait orders. Lieutenant Z. N. Jayne from the Tadependent to temporary duty on Pensacola then to the Asiatic station. Also an advertisement for Dr. Wood’s Norway Pine Syrup promoting its healing balsamic virtues.

The plot centers on deception and war time schemes leading to a surprising finale. Next events include a prize contest tonight and an operetta Saturday drawing further local interest.

The Union granite cutters in Hampton and all town granite workers who are union members have laid down tools and refuse to work until their demands are met. About fifty workers are affected by the strike order.

Mr Albert Marchart of St Thomas Ontario and Miss Maud King of this city were married today by Rev William Warren at the Methodist church parsonage. The couple will reside in the city.
