TORONTO AP William Davis was sworn in as Ontario premier with a cabinet including seven new members and Allen Lawrence named attorney general for his strong Conservative support. Lawrence, a Toronto lawyer, was chosen for a major post amid party backing.
An NH trucker, Phillip W. Coll of Jaffrey, was injured when his tractor trailer carrying 1600 cases of matches crashed on Interstate M - the rig burst into flames and collapsed. Coll was listed in guarded condition at Fueld General Hospital with head chest injuries and multiple abrasions. Boundary Bill Ought to Pass in NH House outlined a three member panel to set a marine boundary with Maine, subject to congressional ratification. Proctor Academy assistant principal David Fowler to succeed retiring Lyle Farrell after 42 years, Farrell retiring July 31.
President Nixon urged Iowa lawmakers to back his 1971 rural reform program including revenue sharing and a reorganization of government. He proposed adding 100 million to rural development funding, envisioning a total of 1.1 billion for rural programs and a broader 16 billion in revenue sharing. He also called for cutting cabinet departments from 12 to 8 and abolishing the Agriculture Department.
Patrolman Joseph St. Pierre braved cold South Mill Pond waters to save an 18 year old boy after a distress call at 1 80 am. He entered the shoulder deep water, lifted the youth clear, while firemen and police aided shoreward. The officer was treated for shock and exposure and left Portsmouth Hospital, back on duty today.

In Belfast area a British army patrol was ambushed in Londonderry as three petrol bombs exploded. A driver died from injuries, another soldier was hospitalized, and a third was handed to police. The attack appeared organized with bombs all at once. The incident marks continued violence as Northern Ireland tensions rise between Protestant and Catholic communities amid IRA activity.
A bipartisan group backed by the state leader announced a statewide tax protest for March 21 with a site to be announced. Roger Crowley, who narrowly lost to Governor Walter Peterson, urged opposition to sales or income taxes. Peterson and Speaker Marshall Cob lleigh were invited, as New Hampshire remains tax free and Peterson proposed a 3 percent income tax.
An early morning explosion ripped through the Capitol Senate wing, causing extensive interior damage but no injuries. A male caller warned of the blast referencing Laos, while President Nixon denounced the act as violence and investigators sought clues.
Washington AP reports President Nixon and numerous senators reacting with shock to an explosion that damaged the Senate wing of the Capitol building. Nixon, aboard Air Force One, condemned the act as deplorable while aides briefed on the damage. Senators Hughes Dominick Stennis and others condemned the attack as dangerous and un-American.
