General Dundonald with the Natal Carbineers and a composite regiment entered Ladysmith last night. The country between Ladysmith and the enemy is reported clear. Tam is moving on Melthorpe.
The Advent Christian church Junior Society of Loyal Workers staged an entertaining program at the Home for Aged Women on Wednesday. Features included singing, piano solos by Ethel Campbell and Berth Roghaskie, readings by Maude Trefethen and Ada Frost, recitations, duets, magic lantern shows, and crayon sketches by W G Wetherell. A second section lists police beat changes effective March 1 at noon, with officers reassigned across day and night shifts.

The Greenland Grange No. 105 staged Down East at the town hall in Hampton despite threatening weather. Miss Abbie Berry, Albert Hutch, P. H. Foley, and T. N. Weeks drew strong praise for their acting. An exchange with Ocean Side Grange is planned for March 5 in Wimpton with hope Greenlanders will attend. A potential basketball team in Gampton may allow a Seminoles game.
At a Wednesday evening meeting of the Republican Ward Two Committee, candidates were recommended for the coming election. Aldermen include Charles E. Whitehouse, Charles Frank Wells, and James A. Band. Councilmen listed are H. O. Nelson, Charles W. Brewater, Charles L. Smith, George M. Ayers, William E. Drake, and James E. Chickering. Assessors named are Warren P. Webster, Simon R. Marston, and Joseph H. Gardiner, with Edward S. Downs as Overseer of the Poor.
The Marines edged Maplewoods in a tight city league match at Wolfe tavern Newbury park Wednesday. Harry Mowe defeated McGlew 150 to 121 in the deciding game and secured the tournament for Mowe, both players bowling from scratch in front of a sizable crowd.
