Two Planes Lost In Ocean Search Underway
In a 20 000 square mile area a Marine Fury helicopter disappeared along with its pilot Lt Alan M McAneny of Yonkers New York. Three rescued crewmen from the helicopter were unhurt and identified as 2nd Lt Robert Eugene Suedes Cpl Kyle Wayne Follett and Cpl James W Huskin. Missing crewman’s name withheld. More than 70 air force navy and marine aircraft and about a dozen ships from US Japan and Canada joined the hunt for 2nd Lt David Winton Bell and Capt H P Montague Jr both involved in the search drifting on rafts up to 30 miles apart. Bell carries a weak radio signal not heard since early today.

Four Tax Hikes Go Into Effect Friday in Maine
Maine imposes new taxes on cigarettes liquor wine motor vehicle private sales corporate franchises and gross revenues of NET&T and Western Union. Fatal Miller Ave crash claims New York woman
A two car collision at Miller and Hospital streets in Portsmouth left one woman dead and two others injured. The deceased is Mrs. Saddle Kantoll, 62, of New York City. Injured are Mrs. Ethel Mannheimer, 68, of Rockland Avenue, and Miss Janet Creska, 62, of Long Island City. Driver of the second car, Mrs. Charles Scripture, 49, of 1100 South Street, was uninjured but not identified. Police and medical officials described brain injuries and fractures from the impact.
