Woodsville June 29 Following three days of intense heat a severe storm lashed Woodsville causing extensive damage. Lightning hail and wind toppled hundreds of trees blocking highways and triggering landslides. Gardens and crops suffered heavy losses as telegraph and telephone service were disrupted and electric service failed intermittently.
Boston June 29 delegates from around the globe gathered at Mechanics building for Rotary sessions prioritizing relief and restoration of crippled children. Dr Brackett demonstrated Rotarians efforts, while John Nelson of Montreal was elected president. Rober Lincoln O'Brien urged international amity as 10 000 attendees filled the hall despite heat.

The body found behind the old machine shop two days ago is identified as Joseph Deragon of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Franklin Chief A H Mannuss telegraphed that Deragon has relatives in Lawrence, and local police have notified Lawrence police who have not yet replied.
The Board of Assessors announced the tax rate would be 29 dollars per 1,000 this year, compared with 30 dollars last year.
London June 28 The gold nations led by France warned they would withdraw from the world economic conference unless urgent currency stabilization actions are taken. The American delegation pressed for delineation of stabilization as Washington's matter, while private talks continued. MacDonald and gold bloc representatives held explosive talks as France Belgium Holland and Switzerland insisted they would depart without abatement support.
