Washington June 24 AP Democratic concessions to modify the administration bill to revise the neutrality act and repeal the arms embargo appeared to fore shadow its passage by the House late this week. House leaders predicted no more than 75 votes against it. The changes would remove a section allowing the President to designate combat areas closed to American ships and limit presidential power to extend short term credits to belligerents. Critics called it a war making bill aimed at allying with Britain. Supporters argued it reduces war hazards by shifting title transfer for belligerent-bound goods away from Americans.
Mary Regan reported a car stolen from her Woodbury Avenue garage Monday night. Police recovered the vehicle in Gardner Massachusetts on Tuesday afternoon after Massachusetts state police relayed the description over teletype.
Warsaw reports say a German military plane was fired on by Polish coast artillery near the free city of Danzig. Berlin denied any plane shot down while rumors persisted of a strike near the Puck naval station at the corridor’s end.

Veterans organize Squalus Tag Day collections on Saturday under the Central Veterans Council to aid families of the Squalus victims. No expenses are deducted. all overhead covered by the council. Funds collected by Frank H. Booma Post, Emerson Hovey Fost, Camp Winfield Scott Schley, and Portsmouth Fleet Reserve will be given to Comdr. A E Stone USN chaplain.

A candlelight service was conducted by Miss Anne Wright.
In Boston the Bakery Drivers Union Local 494 declared a strike as their contract expired. About 1400 drivers from 36 bakeries halted deliveries to stores and restaurants citywide except hospitals and institutions. Employers and union spokesmen plan further talks with the state board.
