Sailors Ordered to Pay in Local Break Case
Two sailors from the cruiser USS Portsmouth were ordered to restitution of 5891 in connection with breaking and entering the Chamber of Commerce offices on Daniels street May 31. Arthur J. Dowd Jr. and Robert D. Powell also paid court costs of 11.33 each after pleading innocent. They had been held in 900 bail for the October term. Police said they broke in through a rear window. Powell jumped through a front window onto an awning and then landed on a parked car. Dowd hid under a table and was arrested. Two civil suits against the Heston and Maine railroad were scheduled yesterday afternoon. The estates of Harry Bratter and Samuel Taube awarded 6,000. Thomas Mills paid a fine of 76 and costs 2.94 for reckless operation. Mills appealed a DUI finding in Exeter municipal court.
