VEW Opens Convention Parade Kicks Off State Parley
The 1962 state VFW convention begins with a downtown parade led by the Military Order of the Cooties from the Community Center to the VFW Home on Deer Street. About 600 delegates are expected. sessions start at Portsmouth High School with officer elections set for 3:15 p.m. A banquet, installation, and dance follow at the Armory and VFW Home tonight.
