Brentwood Rockingham County authorities reopened today the 1949 fire death of 83 year old recluse George M Braley. A Minneapolis police letter says a former Epping couple, now in custody there, accuse the husband of starting the blaze and stealing $4.20 from Braley who was nearly blind. The fire occurred December 17, 1949, at his two room shack off Route 125 near the Epping line. The husband denies the charges and says he worked in the woods in Milton at the time.

Lt Cmdr Earl H. Clark, of Portsmouth New Hampshire, was convicted on two charges of mishandling funds while in charge of recruiting in Portland Maine from 1952 to 1954. He was fined 1050 dollars and costs 1000 dollars. The court martial decision remains subject to review. Clark, living at 1410 South Street, led Navy recruiting for Maine and southeastern New Hampshire before his recent assignment to sea duty. The Portsmouth recruiting office fell under his jurisdiction.
