Epping Man Killed In Plunge From Town Hall Belfry
A 98 year old Epping janitor Herman Lussier died after a 70 foot fall from the town hall belfry when a board gave way under his weight. Witness Arthur Averill, Jr. saw him topple to the roof and sidewalk. Dr. Willard Montgomery confirmed death and Dr. Wendell Clare ruled accidental. FITTSBURGH June 2 AP Police Lt. Henigan said a tearful 21 year old brunette named Ethel Wooding of Winthrop Massachusetts walked into a city police station reporting she shot and killed her childhood sweetheart Gil bert A. Taylor 24 also of Winthrop near Middlesboro Kentucky on May 25. She said the couple joined Wilson Shows carnival traveling to Harlan and Middlesboro where she worked in an electric act. She claimed they argued on highway 19 two miles outside Middlesboro and she took Taylor s gun firing once in the head and twice in the heart. She then left, rode a bus to Indianapolis wandered, then a few days later walked into a Pittsburgh police station saying her conscience bothered her. She wore blue jeans a sweater sandals and a green raincoat and had little money and had not eaten for days.

Portsmouth police hunted a thief who hid in the basement of Tober's Inc at 153 Congress Street after the store closed. The burglar broke a cellar panel, entered the main floor, opened a cash register and fled with $100 before exiting through a side door. Officers Roland Smart and Robert E. Burns investigated the burglary.
