Kittery Veteran Receives Recognition For Berlin Airlift Service
John Zazzera of Kittery earned a Friendship Award from the German Consul General in Boston for his role as an Air Force sergeant dispatcher during the Berlin Airlift from June 1948 to May 1949. He helped load and maintain planes delivering 23 million tons of aid to about 2 million West Berliners.
