Body of Eva Marshall Found After Sunken Boat Incident
The body identified as Eva Marshall of Haverhill Mass was recovered from a whaleboat in sixty feet of water near the Shoals. Diver Michael Sturley brought the sunken body to the surface and to Appledore Island for identification by Oceanic House staff. The sister May Marshall also perished and Bliss Marshall’s body was due to be transported to the city. coroner and undertaker informed.

A shock hit Exeter as Laura Belle Gilmore a twenty year old charming native of Exeter died in a tragic incident. Daughter of Mr and Mrs John Gilmore she was a Robinson Seminary graduate and sister to four elder sisters and seven brothers. The family rooted in the town planned to support Louis through college while other Exeter girls from Oceanic joined the planned sailing party.

On July 30, 1873, nineteen travelers left New Market for a Lamprey river excursion. The gundalow sank in forty feet of water after a sudden cause, drowning Abbie Garland Jennie Burnham and Maniton. The sixteen survivors were helped by others until rescue arrived.
