Picketing over Dewey death in Portsmouth court

Animal rights activists protested outside Portsmouth District Court Tuesday as Shannon C. Walters 34 of Newmarket faced a Class B felony animal cruelty charge for allegedly drowning Dewey a two year old miniature dachshund in a water filled bathtub. The case was sent to a Rockingham County grand jury after a probable cause ruling by Judge Sharon De Vries with Wylie facing an accomplice charge. Walters pleaded not guilty and her lawyer urged a misdemeanor reduction while prosecutors push for the felony finding.

Seabrook Considers Halting Two Recall Petitions

Seabrook weighs moving to halt two recall elections aimed at removing Selectman Asa Knowles and Karen Stockbridge.
