The death shocks relatives and friends. She was 25 and deeply in love with Jack Fischer, whom friends believe was her husband. Some think quarrels prompted her to cast herself into the Merrimack. A letter found among her effects praised him. No word has come from Fischer after a telegram to Albert J Weeks seeking news of Thurston. Rumors said Fischer had promised to marry her, a motive some attribute to the tragedy.

The Odlin estate of Woodbridge Odlin who died in Exeter on April 24 1879 settled in probate Monday June. Trustees Attys Gen Eastman and Sperry French filed receipts of 62296 77 and expenses of 2503 78. Two prior dividends totaling 50957 45 were distributed to heirs leaving a final dividend of 6044 26 with checks ranging from 1630 to 643 48.

Arthur Tilton a 28 year old conductor on the Sanford and Cape Porpoise railway was killed Monday between Kennebunk and Cape Porpoise. The death is believed caused by a fall from the car after being dragged along the rail. details of exact time and mechanism remain unknown. Tilton lived in Kennebunk and was a Knights of Pythias member, survived by a widow.

Officers at Hampton Beach raided a local establishment and seized contraband goods in large quantities. Nolan was brought before the police court, found guilty, and fined after appealing the ruling.
Buffalo police arrest Charley We a Chinese laundryman on a murder charge after the body of 6 year old Mary Murphy was found in Forest Lawn cemetery. Autopsy indicated rape and strangulation and officers recovered rope cloth and blood stained garments tying him to the crime. A second Chinese man connected to the case was detained as a suspect.
