Cooper cooks weekly meals for homeless in Seacoast church
At Seacoast Community Church in Portsmouth, 83 year old Connie Cooper runs a Monday dinner service for up to 200 guests, aided by 80 year old Barbara Perry, 78 year old Evelyn Cable, and others. The nonprofit effort, begun 18 years ago, grows from a simple concept of loaves and fishes as volunteers arrive from 10 a.m. to help set up for the noon meal.

The 32nd annual Strawberry Festival in Berwick Maine drew thousands with ripe berries, shortcakes, live bands, and a wildlife exhibit. About 5,000 shortcakes were prepared for a crowd of over 15,000 expected attendees, as juried crafters showcased paintings, jewelry, pottery and more. The event featured music by Women of Note and marks included some changes this year with a notable cancellation.
