Rescue of Four Men From Teetering Topaz Near Isles of Shoals

The pleasure yacht Topaz valued at $20,000, owned by Charles Clifford of Bath Maine, broke up after dragging anchor off Appledore Island Isles of Shoals. Captain Frank Walker E T Kelley of Bath and Henry T Loring of Portland and four crewmen were rescued by the Coast Guard as the craft drifted toward rocks. The Topaz, a 400 horsepower craft, had anchored off the islands after leaving Bath for Miami and Portland. the crew remained aboard the coast guard station at noon today unable to reach the city due to rough seas.
