Addis Ababa dispatch says Emperor Selassie prepared terms for peace with Italy. Terms include withdrawal of Italian troops from Ethiopia, recognition of Ethiopia as a sovereign state, and Italy paying indemnity. He reportedly asked boundary adjustments and sought assistance with Italian influence barred.
The Peace Bond project by the National Council for the Prevention of War holds a supper meeting at the YWCA in Portsmouth on Monday December 30 about 6 30. The public is invited to learn details and hear what has been accomplished in other communities. Gaylord W Douglas of Springfield Mass is the New England chairman.

Paris December 27 Associated Press reports Premier Laval faces a hostile House as he seeks a vote of confidence on foreign policy. He argues efforts to end the Italo Ethiopian war are dead but conciliatory doors remain open and says he supports painful sanctions against Italy. He cites cleared misunderstandings with Britain over joint defense and confirms France will aid Britain if attacked while sanctions are in place.
Montevideo reported that Uruguay will expel Soviet minister Alexander Minkin and his staff, signaling a break with the Soviet Union amid unrest ties to the Brazilian uprising. Harry Ingram of Islington Street was killed when the small car he rode in was struck by a Boston and Maine train at Barberry Lane Crossing near Portsmouth. U S Army planes bomb Mount Loa to divert lava flow threatening Hilo Hawaii. Twelve bombers were dispatched at 8 20 a m to create a new channel for lava to reach the sea. If ineffective 59 engineers will use dynamite to aid the effort and redirect the molten flow.
Pittsfield Massachusetts December 27 George P Graves state inspector of motor vehicles identified with Pittsfield registry is reported missing Supervisor Thomas L Kleichka says Graves took a vacation and has not returned overdue two weeks Last word received by cable from Death Valley California Graves is the third Pittsfield man reported missing within two weeks The others are Theodore Cain a city fire department member and Marshall Bradley custodian of Berkshire County courthouse
Webster Mass Dec 27 sale of the East Webster plant of the Slater Company closed since March to the Cranston Print Works of Cranston Rhode Island was announced by John T McManus general manager of the Slater intersects here He announced that operations of the plant will resume in the near future under new ownership.
The plant would be resumed on Jan. 6 with the goal of placing as many former employees as possible back to work. The move signals a targeted restart to restore jobs and stabilize operations.
