Robert Kirby, 45, president of Jo. Farmers' Bank, was shot and killed by nine men in Smith's Grove Kentucky as he met friends while robbers fled from Oakland Bank after a $1000 heist. National Guard aided search with tear gas, gunfire, and a cave outlet near Rocky Hill. two other robbers believed wounded or hiding.

Collapse of wagon shed injures crowd at Quarryville card party
At Quarryville near Lancaster a remodeled wagon shed collapsed during a card party, injuring two women and about 30 others. About 150 people fell from the second floor to the first floor as roof debris trapped and burned attendees, with Mrs. Frank Forbes and Mrs. Haverstick among the severely hurt and taken for treatment.

Dover, Dec 27 A worker named William A. Corson was fatally struck on the head while unloading dephone poles from a freight car. Corson, member of the Paris Scan dé Coal Co. crew, held a pole handling contract from New England Tel. Co. Fireman killed in Boston blaze in leather district
Boston on December 27 a four story brick building in the shoe and leather district suffered $150000 damage after a fire. Fireman Emmet Ham Emanuel was crushed under falling timbers and died on the third floor. Edward Tracey was badly injured and several other firemen were overcome by smoke.
