Westchester Pa December 27 Representative Thomas S Butler, chairman of the House naval committee, renews his plea for adequate national defense and a virtually new navy, predicting it will cost more than 4900000000 and urging a strong congressional program. He cites a naval race with England Japan and warns the United States risks becoming fourth in sea power.
In St Albans Vermont a Canadian bartender aided by American officials led to seizure of 18 cases of wine and the arrest of one man who later escaped. Three American cars followed a wine shipment from St Armand Quebec with drivers arranging purchase. during pursuit, Canadian and American authorities intercepted five cars. The incident follows Rye celebrations and precedes a stage event, The Brookdale Farm, at Hampton Town Hall on Jan 6 with a post performance social dance.

More than a million mourners filed along the four mile route from Warn juku station to the imperial salon as the body of the late Emperor Yoshihito was taken to Tokyo from Hayama where he died on Christmas Day. The imperial guard cortege passed with Sadako dowager empress and Emperor Hirohito arriving prior to the procession. Navy guns fired as the body was borne from Hayama and condolences poured in from royals worldwide including President Coolidge.
Sealis Missouri December 27 Robert Bardwell shot and killed Claude Wilkerson an attorney on Sedalia's main street near his offices. Bardwell's son Elbert Bardwell and Billy Palmer were shot and killed months earlier by a deputy sheriff tied to a Pleasant Green bank robbery. Wilkerson later indicted for complicity in the robbery. Bardwell suspected Wilkerson of involvement in movements leading to the officer actions.
John Connor a longtime Dover resident and former Portsmouth Machine Co. employee, known in local athletic circles, is critically ill at his Dover home.
Edward Dana Densmore a leading Bogton architect took his own life with a razor at his Brookline home 24 Downing Road on Christmas evening. He was known for work on the Olympia Theatre and the George B. French Company theater remodeling and the Tadge Calvin Page residence.

Concord December 21 A Superior court jury awarded Chester A Colby three hundred dollars against dog owner Michael J Lea who faced a $2000 damages claim for a dog bite incident.
In Indianapolis a Christmas feast fed 156 homeless dogs at the city pound. About fifty pounds of meat and 50 feet of dog biscuits were provided for the canine residents.
Fairfield Connecticut December 27 druggist Yohn B Boyle was held up by three armed men who entered his store and escaped in a touring car. Boyle had been carrying about 10750 in cash including a bank roll from a real estate deal and planned to deposit it in New York.
Sanford Me Dec 27 Albert Mi chaud is dead from a fractured skull after a car he rode in with his father Joseph Sanford skidded off the road near Oak Hill in Dunstan Saturday. A younger brother escaped uninjured as did the father when the car crashed through a fence, hit a telegraph pole, and wedged against an embankment.
The Unitarian Laymen's League invites members and guests to a Christmas tree at the Chapel on Court Street tonight at 6 30 after supper. Attendees anticipate a wonderful time.
