Prohibition Agents Suspended After Road Chase Incident
Federal Prohibition Agents James M Kent Ralph Slearng and Austin Ellingwood were suspended by the department after an investigation led by Earle Barnard of Boston. The action follows a December 16 chase on Lafayette Road near Rye One involving a car with Wilfred Ouilette Alfred Sorols Molea Kendall and Evelyn Paul en route to a Portsmouth dance.

Boston and Maine to shut Ashburnham branch station
Fitchburg December 27 official word that the Boston and Maine railroad will close its Ashburnham station and end freight service between Ashburnham and the main line by February 7. Ashburnham selectmen offered no protest though a hearing was demanded. The line has been served by a ble meter bus that replaced the steam passenger train and will continue to run carrying only passengers and their baggage.

Explosion in harbor kills many aboard cargo ship
