Addie E. Shapleigh of Eliot died Tuesday at her home 240 Sagamore Street in Manchester. A Methodist church member and Eliot native, she had lived in Manchester six years. She is survived by four brothers John of Eliot Albert of Chelsea Edwin of Boston Jasper of Eliot and two sisters Mrs Samuel Clark of Eliot and Mrs B H Sterling of Manchester.

York and Kittery did not play as scheduled on Monday. A scrub game between two green local teams entertained a large Christmas crowd as the expected stars did not appear. Community members and families visited, with several holiday events and visits noted across York and York Beach.
Secretary Long sent a bill to Congress authorizing the Massachusetts Society of the Daughters of 1812 to repair and refit the old Constitution for a training ship. Royal Baking Powder Co of New York praised the estate of Stephen A Dixon. Administrators and families from Rockport and Portsmouth spent Christmas in town with numerous relatives. School and church events featured Christmas trees and concerts. Multiple local residents visited or hosted relatives across nearby towns during the holiday period.
A Congregational church Christmas tree party at Mr WW Ay Odell’s residence brought a pleasant afternoon with ice cream and cake. A town hall social and dance is planned for this evening. Skating and polo on E S Daniels pond noted. Herbert A Trottle returns to Exeter after visiting his father.
