AAA reports metal studded snow tires are legal in 39 states including New Hampshire and all New England states and the District of Columbia. Safety director Burton E. North Church announces limited hours from December 27 to January 6 to facilitate an orderly transition from 1966 to 1987. A new part time clerk, Mrs. Donald McKinnon, will work mornings Monday through Thursday. Residents seeking 1967 car registration plates must file with the Division of Motor Vehicles in Concord by February 8, with applications available at the town hall after January 3. head and poll taxes must be settled before registrations can be issued.
Two Christmas Eve services at Community Church Durham include a 4 30 p m program titled Carols by Candlelight under direction of Mrs Raimond Bowles and a 12 p m Christmas readings with Rev Join N Feaster leading. Christmas Day service at 11 a m features carols and a sermon by Dr Feaster. No church school classes. families are asked to attend.
Air Force Sergeants Association and base chaplain staff led a successful annual clothing and toy drive on base. Volunteers including four drivers collected thousands of items for Salvation Army and Goodwill Industries, with 1200 pairs of shoes and numerous toys packed for distribution. Representatives of the Salvation Army and Goodwill arrived to load boxes for transport to staging areas.
