Wells Youngsters Stage Yule Pageant in Wells

Wells Elementary School auditorium packed for the Christmas program by pupils from grades one through four. The show titled Christmas At Home and Abroad featured American children guiding Santa to visit other nations, with Norway Germany and France represented by various classes. Music and dances accompanied speaking parts, and the event raised funds toward classroom record players. Reservations were not needed for Christmas dinners at Jarvis Restaurant, 3 Congress St.

Wells Choirs Christmas Concert Brings Carols to Wells

The Wells First and Second Congregational Churches joined for their annual Christmas concert last night in the Second Church sanctuary. Under Miss Eleanor R. Jenness, with organist Mrs. Freda M. Nutter, youth and adult choirs performed together and separately. Soloists Jacob Kelley, Mrs. Albee G. LaPierre, Mixi Jennese, and Robert Stillings highlighted the program, with a duet by Mrs. Isabelle Perkins and Kelley. The youth chorus sang Ukrainian carol The Bells and both choirs closed with Silent Night.

Winthrop Pike is a patient at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Manchester. Miss Caral Marston and two companions attended Open House at Helena Hospital School of Nursing in Lynn. Mrs Olive Calet’s kindergarten class ended the term with a Christmas party at her home. No classes will be held in January or February due to uncertain weather, with the program resuming in March. Former Stratham residents visited Mrs Walter Pease on Sunday.

Hitchhiker mystery as Farmington teller missing man reappears

A Farmington Maine bank teller last seen Saturday telephoned his wife from California saying he was abducted by hitchhikers and robbed after a Long Ride from Augusta to Lewiston. Police say his accounts show a $150 withdrawal and a shopping trip. his wife reports relief that he is safe and plans to return home.
