Report from Hong Kong on December 21 notes many street placards urging an anti American and anti British boycott. Protests reference the customs surplus dispute and call for unity to seize the Quang Tung surplus to "save" the Chinese nation.
Democrats from Ward 3 and Ward 5 push for jobs in the next administration's public works and municipal projects. They say capable workers in their wards should be considered when allocations are made and that Ward 3 in particular will demand a larger share. They claim their efforts saved the day previously and demand recognition this time.
The Leviathan, an American merchant marine ship inbound from Cherbourg, grounded on Robin's Reef in New York harbor just north of Tompkinsville Staten Island after passing quarantine. A call was sent for all available tugs to aid the grounded vessel.
A 160000 dollar cargo of liquor destined for St Pierre arrived after engine trouble halted the Red Island. The cargo was transferred to another steamer under British, American, and French supervision in Fairfax. It reached St Pierre via SS Pierre with customs clearance announced to the American Consul at Halifax and French authorities.
Chicago authorities arrested Jack McDonald, his wife, and another man in a case tied to printing counterfeit pay checks worth 190000. Numerous checks have already been cashed.

New York December 1 Ernest Vetter and his wife Marie were found guilty of first degree manslaughter in the killing of Alonzo J Storey allegedly a former suitor of Mrs Vetter. The verdict concludes a sensational case highlighting a troubled marriage and a fatal confrontation.

An Associated Press courier described a devastating earthquake that destroyed the Sierra Madre towns of Douglas Arizona list not locally relevant but Miragabas Oputo and Caramadas in Sonora. The towns with about 9000 residents suffered many deaths according to the rider who arrived at Macazaria railhead. He spoke of collapsed horses and widespread ruin and pain.
