North Hampton Rejects Water Utility Takeover Push

Voters on Tuesday rejected a plan to investigate and begin a municipal takeover of Aquarion Water Co. A two-thirds majority was required but the measure failed 367 to 546. Aquarion’s Larry Bingaman extended an olive branch to Emily Creighton, while a separate article approved a conservation easement for open space off Woodland Road and Atlantic Avenue.

Court approves wetlands filling in Greenland project

The New Hampshire Supreme Court upholds a DES permit letting Endicott General Partnership of Concord Mass fill wetlands on a 212 acre parcel for a 79 home development. The 85 acres of wetlands along Norton Brook and tributaries are affected as the ruling requires 106 acres under a conservation easement and creation of two new wetland areas with 12 road crossings.
