The talks also cover interallied relations and NATO issues with aides Kissinger and Trend present.
Washington Bureau reports conservative Ohio Congressman John F H Ashbrook plans a New Hampshire swing to gauge support for a potential run in the New Hampshire and Florida primaries. He intends to reveal his decision by December 28, meeting with GOP leaders and right wing figures to press for a more conservative course from President Nixon.
Two Coast Guardsmen from New Castle risked their lives when lowered from a helicopter onto a loose oil barge in heavy seas and a snowstorm to secure lines and keep the 60,000 barrel vessel from drifting ashore. The Active cutter and helicopter battled 40 knot winds before securing the barge eight miles south of the Isles of Shoals. it was later towed to Boston after drifting toward Ipswich harbor.
