Prison Term for Amworth Man

Center Ossipee New Hampshire December 18 Harry Hobbs a 28 year old Tamworth truck driver was sentenced to seven and a half to ten years in state prison for manslaughter on four counts stemming from a collision that killed four C C recruits near Center Ossipee. Hobbs pleaded not guilty and avoided the state presenting evidence by his guilty note.

Storm-Tossed Vessels Docked as Deaths Reported in Washington

The Charles te Wheeler Jr. remained stuck on Desdemona Sands at the Columbia mouth, shattered by the storm, while the Henry D. Whitin docked at Longview. Victims include Richard Billaire, a 50 year old Indian man killed by a falling tree limb near Bellingham, and Nicky Fumar, a 3 year old Filipino child who drowned at Port Angeles.

Local Man Arrested On False Pretenses Charge

O. B. Clarke was arrested in Bangor for the Portsmouth police. He allegedly collected money in October in this city posing as an encyclopedia agent and will be brought here for trial on obtaining money under false pretenses.

Relief Corps to Present Flags at School and Church

Storer Relief Corps No. 6 will present a flag to Whipple School on Wednesday at 1 40 p m with patriotic exercises led by instructor Mabel Storer Smith. Christmas programs are planned that afternoon and will also present a flag to the Universalist Church next Sunday morning. The group spreads cheer to the sick and shut-ins during the season.

Truce in Chaco Boreal Area Reached by Paraguay and Bolivia

Paraguay and Bolivia agreed to a ceasefire in the Chaco Boreal until December 31, addressing a conflict that has cost thousands of lives.
